Connector Subtypes and Associated IDs
- A Connector Subtype determines the ID of instances of the connector, and the symbol used on schematic diagrams.
- The subtype also defines rules for connector mates - see Mating and Unmating Connectors as well as Design Rule Checks (DRCs)
- Connector subtypes include Plug, Receptacle, Symmetric and Undefined.
- The default ID for a receptacle is "J#" where # is a sequential number. The default ID for all other connector subtypes in "P#".
- Undefined subtypes are potential mates for any other subtype.
- Default IDs may be changed by the user.
- The symbol for a plug is a rectangle with two rounded corners. The symbol for all other connector subtypes is a rectangle.
